( i like you. three little words that send part of him into a panic. the more people he brings into the small circle he has for himself, the more people it means he has a chance of losing. it's different with dick, sure. he's capable of handling himself, on and off the streets of gotham, and understands the sort of life that they both have. the sacrifices that come with it and oh, how there are always so many sacrifices to make. but he's never truly managed to get over the deaths of his parents — never truly managed to conquer the sort of fear and pain that comes with losing those he cares so much for. even if he comes across as having conquered it. he knows, deep down, he's still vulnerable there, and he can't afford to have vulnerabilities.
