Right before I told you that I loved you.
I already knew that I was going to tell you, I wasn't sure when.

I'll have a beer waiting for you.

Huh. Maybe that's why she's been talking to me less.

Better be a good one ;)

It wasn't that long ago and she seemed really happy for us.
Maybe she's been busy? I don't think she'd talk to you less because of that.

I always get the best beer.

[ He doesn't reply cause he's already at the bar, heading inside to look for Dick. When he spots the older man he holds a hand up in a small wave and comes over. ]

Hey, you.

[cohero]

[It's always a relief to see Jason after a long day. No matter if it's been the best or worst day, seeing Jason always makes it better. Dick's sitting at a small table near the back, two chairs facing the front so that neither of them have to put their back to the bar. He scoots over and lets Jason sit on the outside.]

Hey babe.

[Once Jason sits, Dick leans over and pulls him in for a kiss, holding him by the front of his shirt.]

Now I'm feeling a little better. How're you doing?

[ It's a good spot, and he likes that Dick knows what the good spots are. He slides in next to him, then keeps that forward motion as he leans in to kiss his boyfriend. This is definitely nice. ]

Feeling a hell of a lot better now too. Also glad I didn't have to fight off more women coming to grab you.

[there's a laugh there. Dick would have been just as concerned if someone had been hitting on Jason, so he gets it. Dick nibbles at Jason's lips for a few more seconds enjoying their closeness and then lets him go so they don't draw too much attention, not that Dick would really care.]

I'd fight through anyone to get to your lips. You're my home, and the love of my life. I'm always thankful that I don't have to bring out my weapons to fight off all the girls who look at you when you walk by.

[Jason's just kidding, though. He's not really the jealous type. He expects people to find better than him, and that's just a thing.

He knows Dick won't, though. Dick's here to stay.

He smiles into the kiss, enjoying how much time Dick takes with him before they pull back.]

Girls? What girls. I've only got eyes for you, babe. And I know you'd never go off with any of em either.

I know you wouldn't. I trust you, like you trust me. I still know how they look at you. It makes me feel good to know that out of everyone, you chose me. Still can't believe it sometimes.

[The beers arrive and Dick thanks the waitress and takes a long sip from his, enjoying the flavor after an equally long day. He places a hand on Jason's thigh, and runs his thumb in circles. Touching has become such a habit, he doesn't even think twice about it anymore. ]

I know what you mean. Sometimes when I wake up in the morning I still can't believe you're laying next to me.

[Jason's been better about that lately, though. Believing that he can have something good. That it won't just disappear. That for once in his life, someone will actually stay.

It makes him stare at Dick lovingly for a moment before he snags his beer and takes a long sip as well.]

Girls don't look at me, though. They're probably checking out your ass as we walk by.

[cohero]

Are you kidding? Those two girls right there at the bar totally checked you out the second you walked in and then giggled over you and then made faces when they saw us kiss.

[Looking over at the girls, Dick nodded his head at them and laughed. Squeezing Jason's knee, he slid his hand back and forth, feeling even more smug about the fact that he had the hottest guy in the bar as his boyfriend. Jason really didn't know exactly how hot he was and that never failed to surprise Dick.]

I love waking up to you, and I'm really glad that I get to keep doing it. You know, we should probably figure out where we want to start looking for places sometime soon. I love our little hotel, but our own place might be nice too.

[nomorefear]

Seriously?

[He looks over at the girls as well and notices that they really are looking at the two of them.

He laughs a little, putting his hand over Dick's and squeezes it.]

Yeah, I wouldn't mind it if we start to look for our own place. Where were you thinking of looking?

[There's a quiet nod as Dick follows Jason's eyes while he takes notice of the girls that had been admiring him this whole time. The older male still thinks it's amusing that Jason never sees all the girls who want him. It's fine with Dick though. He's more than happy to always be the one in the middle of Jason's gaze.

Dick flips his hand and opens his fingers to link with Jason's.]

I was going to ask you where you wanted to live, cause you were pretty determined to stay close to where the action was. I was thinking somewhere close, but maybe a little closer to maybe the last hotel we stayed in, unless you like where we are now. There are some apartments around. I'm happy living exactly where you want to.

[When he was younger he probably would have noticed for sure, but these days it's different. That, and he truly only has eyes for Dick. Those girls don't matter to him in the least.

He links his fingers into Dick's, squeezing his hand.]

I'd rather be closer to the action, you know it. But... I'm willing to look where we had our last hotel. That place was nice. I want you to be comfortable too.

[cohero]

I'm comfortable wherever you are. You're my home Jason. We can look near there, but a little closer to downtown. Somewhere in-between. I'll keep my eyes out for something that will fit us both. I think all I want is a place to put a king sized bed and a bathtub. I want to take baths with you still.

[Dick brought their fingers to his lips, girls completely forgotten. He was way more excited about finding them an apartment. He was already trying to think about any real estate that he already might know in that area]

I want you to look too. If you find anything, you let me know. This is yours too. I want you happy. This started and ends with you.

Not sure I'd be so good at looking for a place to live. I'm used to scoping out abandoned places and hiding spots. My standards are pretty low.

[He snorts softly, running his thumb along Dick's cheek when he kisses his fingers.]

But I can look with you. Together. If you think it's safe. Not really sure how all out in the open I can be just yet.

[cohero]

[Mulling that thought over in his head, Dick sighs a little. More than anything, he wants to do this together. Leaning against Jason's fingers, he holds them to his face and rubs against them much like a cat would do while marking its scent. ]

Maybe I could find a few, and then get the keys and we could pick which one you like the most. That way you don't have to worry about being out and about too much. I mean, we come and go from the hotel and so far that's been alright. I imagine I can find us a few places to look at together.

[nomorefear]

That's why I usually take the back entrance and exit, especially when it's just me.

[He says with slight amusement as he watches Dick. He's pretty sure Dick has noticed that by now.]

But yeah, that would be cool. Find a few and we'll look at em together?

[cohero]

Alright, I'll get to work on that this weekend, and we can go out at night to look.

[Rolling his eyes, he lets go and shrugs. He knows that Jason does as he feels comfortable. The people have shorter memories than he realizes, but Dick lets it go. He's only here to be supportive, even when it irks him a little. ]

I know. You really don't have to, but you do what you feel like doing. I'll try to find a place you feel safe at. That's important.

[nomorefear]

[ Jason raises his eyebrows a little at that, moving back a little too. ]

Okay.... you sure that's ok? You seem a little put off by it. I'm not really sure which part, though.

[cohero]

Yeah, no. I just really want a place where you feel at home at. I want to make this work for us. I want you to be happy, you know. I love you so much, and I don't want you to have any doubts about anything.

[Feeling a little silly, Dick pulled Jason back into his arms, and nuzzled at the side of his neck, inhaling the moment for what it was. He was excited for the both of them, and knew the art of compromise was important here. He wanted this to be absolutely perfect. He couldn't fuck this up. ]

I don't have any doubts. I'm good with this Dick, I really am. I'm just telling you how life is for me too.

[He moves back into Dick's arms easily, his shoulders relaxing once again.]

I know you try to understand. Even if it's hard sometimes.

Hey, we made it this far and you decided that you want to live with me after all, what more could I ask for?

[He leans in and kisses his boyfriend, lost in the happiness that they don't have to part ways and that they can still have this. It's a relief and Dick is looking forward to apartment hunting for them. He may have wanted to do it all with Jason, but this works too.]
