[Under the table, Dick's leg brushes along Iggy's up and down-- not only as a comfort, but letting him know that the world will always go on despite how messed their worlds might get at times. Neither of them win the life award, and Dick is so thankful that he can share this in a way. He knows he doesn't get it and never will, but he will always do his best to support his boyfriend-- because that's who Dick is.
He's always there to be strong when anyone else needs it. Plus, Iggy has sexy legs, and Dick loves playing a little bit of footsie under the table. It makes a date fun.]
We can share some oysters as an appetizer if you want. They've got Rockefeller, the ones with cheese and spinach. They're really good. Then they've got salmon over here. Looks like it should be delicious.

[His smile widens a little and he nudges his leg back.]
Okay! That sounds good.

[Speak the words and she shall appear. The current waitress was extremely kind and happened to recognize Dick. Thankfully when she attempted to flirt, he quickly informed her that he was on a date and while she seemed slightly surprised, she apologized and offered them a bottle of wine on the house. Dick was used to getting things by flirting, but this was the first time he got it by not flirting. He had to laugh.
That was the thing with money, everyone -- and that was everyone seemed to want a piece of him. He was usually safe in upper scale restaurants, but this was a new one that he'd been trying out.
Placing their order, he was assured it would be out quickly and that the food would be above par- Dick never expected anything less. He was pretty embarrassed by now, but that was his life in public, and while they hadn't run across a lot of that type of thing yet. It was bound to happen from time to time. ]
Sorry about that. At least we will have some nice wine in a few minutes to distract ourselves with.

[Iggy watches all of this with amusement. He's been to plenty of dinners with rich guys, but Dick is definitely the youngest and the smoothest. He could definitely be a playboy.
While Dick handles ordering, Iggy risks a glance back at the dead guy.
Still there.
He sighs quietly and smiles at Dick.]
It's cool, I don't mind. She probably thought we were just friends. You have very low key bi-guy vibes, you don't broadcast "I love dick" like yours truly.
no subject
[Wrinkling his nose, Dick realizes that Iggy thinks he does this all the time. It's so rare that Dick actually goes to places like this. He much prefers dive bars, and little mom and pop shops over places like this. He lives a pretty humble life and tries to live a normal-ish life for someone who works the way he does.
Next time they have a date, it's going to be a lot different he figures. Far less of this, and a lot more of who Dick really is.
When they're done with the order, Dick sighs.]
Well, you're my only guy. So I guess that tracks. I don't look at anyone else.
no subject
Iggy lifts his eyebrows at that last statement.]
...hope you're not expecting the same, because I've got eyes. Even if we're monogamous, baby, I'm looking at hotties.
no subject
Honestly, it's why Dick spends a lot more time eating in and staying in than going out. Then when he does, it's to places that serve to go-- it's not like he works to garner attention. Money may talk, but Dick tries to make his talk less.
That makes Dick pause for a second. ]
You know, we never talked about being exclusive... I didn't know if we were or not, and I know ... neither of us are dead by the way. We're allowed to have eyes. I'd be sad if you didn't share someone you found hot with me. A good view is always a good view.
no subject
[He grins.] Same! I like looking.
On a more serious note, we can talk about it if you want to. I admit to a little evasion on the subject. It's--
[He pauses. The ghost is staring at him.
Iggy clears his throat.]
I don't want it to become an argument or a "Iggy, it's up to you" deflection. You know? I want it to be like... an important conversation, sure, but not dire. And I'm in no rush to nail us down into anything. I really don't care if you fuck half this restaurant, baby.
no subject
[The oysters arrive, and Dick smiles. He glances at Iggy and realizes that he'd spaced out for a little bit. Biting his lip, Dick adjusts his chair slightly, moving it in toward the table but sliding it over to maybe block the view? He doesn't know, because he can't see.
His leg slides along Iggy's. ]
I'm also not going to put it all in your lap. I mean, we are dating and so it's our conversation to find a place we find comfortable. Did you want to take the rest of our food to go, babe? I wouldn't mind eating at home if you wished.
[Dick takes an oyster and holds it up for Iggy to try, still doing everything he would on any other date.]
no subject
Thanks. I don't know much about relationships, but I do know they need to be collaborative.
[At the question he shakes his head, gaze dropping for a moment.]
No. I'm fine.
[He's happy to focus on trying the oysters instead, looking about as pleased as can be.]
So you don't love the playboy lifestyle? That's funny, then, you hooking up with me.
no subject
[Dick nods and takes a bite of the oyster, fishing it out with one of the tiny forks. He has fun going back and forth between feeding himself and feeding Iggy, because it's romantic and he loves watching Iggy take it from the fork with his lips. It's a mild turn on, if not a little more than that. What can he say-- his boyfriend is hot.]
Maybe I never wanted to be like Bruce in that way, or maybe I'm wired a little different. I mean, it's not like I haven't just slept with girls once or twice and gone my way, but half the time it's been someone in my business... Not always the great side either.
[He laughs softly, thinking about jinx then sighs as he remembers her fondly. She was dangerous, but wasn't all bad. It was sad that she had to die the way she did. At least she did it helping save the world.]
You were the first man I ever found really attractive enough to go all the way with. I still don't know how that all happened, but it did.
no subject
[He's happy to be fed - Iggy isn't unused to being pampered. He enjoys it most of the time.]
Yeah, dunno! I wasn't even in girl clothes when we met!
[He bats his eyelashes.]
I'm just that pretty.

[There's something about Iggy's features that can be jarring at times. Dick wasn't even sure what he thought at first, but then when Iggy turned one day, there was this softness Dick saw in him that he couldn't ever unsee. From that moment on, Iggy became more and more attractive. It was one of the most real feelings that Dick had ever experienced for a man.
Sure, he'd fooled around with the other guys in the titans, but nothing had ever come close to the desire and need he had for Iggy. Then there was the willowy shape of his body -- that Dick adored. He even went so far as to be with him, knowing that Iggy would never be someone that saw Dick back in the same way Dick saw Iggy.
At least that's what he figured. Things changed, but it took time. Now Dick wanted to spend all his time and energy romancing him, but he didn't want to overwhelm Iggy either. So, he took his time. He didn't do all the things in his mind, because there was so much.
There was a lot of things he wanted to try sexually, but they went along with the romance. It was hard to know which way to go -- especially since he never wanted Iggy to feel like he was only wanted for sex, but Dick didn't want to push him romantically either, because he didn't want him to feel boxed in, when this was his first kind of a relationship.
Leaning over, he touched his lips to Iggy's and smiled.]
You will always be the most beautiful thing in my life.
no subject
[Iggy is extremely angular. Even if he's in a dress or makeup, it's impossible to ignore the sharpness of his features. So he does remain a little baffled by Dick's attraction, considering that he seems to prefer women as a general rule.
He's not expecting the kiss, but he returns it warmly.]
Yeah? Even when I get old and suffer twink death?
no subject
[He grins and sips at his wine. Laughing softly. He has no idea what Iggy's ideas are about that type of thing, so for now it's up in the air. Dick has always been open about how he feels, but they already decided that Dick wasn't going to pay for things, because Dick wasn't one of those guys.
Now that they're dating things are different to a point, but Dick has no idea where those lines are. He's sure they can draw them out later. He doesn't want to misstep again like he did earlier.
There's another laugh and he nods.]
Even then sugar. I'll love your twink even when it's dead. Do they die? I mean with all the pills. I heard that all the old men are giving all the old ladies in the nursing homes all sorts of STDS.
no subject
[Iggy sips his own wine, smiling. Being out with Dick is fun. The food is good, the wine is good, the view is beautiful.
He looks at Dick, and then cracks up laughing. Well, in his own peculiar way: silently, one hand pressed to his mouth.]
Oh my god. Dick. No, no, honey... oh my god, I keep forgetting you're so... not gay.
Twinks are like, youthful, skinny, pretty guys. 'Twink death' is when we get too old to be considered one anymore. It's mostly a joke.
But you're right: old people love to fuck, and they don't wrap it up.
no subject
Now he knew better, but it still didn't sound right. It was pretty much what Dick meant. He'd be around for it all.
The angular features, the beautiful man he was now and then. Whatever they decided to do with their lives, Dick certainly wasn't always going to be as fit as he was now. He'd work as long as he could, and do his best, but who knew how long that was.]
I know what a twink is believe it or not. I ... just thought- it doesn't matter, but I get it now. It's the same answer, I see no reason not to stick around. Unless you decide to dump me because I'm not the perfect specimen when I get older. If I get older.
no subject
I-- wait. 'If'? What do you mean if?
[Genuine concern. Iggy leans forward a little.]
Do you think you'll die young? Or are you secretly a vampire?
no subject
[He barely pokes his tongue out, letting it stick out the front and sides very playfully. He's really not serious all the time. He's rather playful quite often.
Seeing Iggy's concern, Dick leans in and brings their hands back together.]
I.. I don't know. I've already died once. Life is short, or can be. I'm as careful as I can be out there, and I always will be. It's one of those things. I was about to say I wish I was a vampire, but while I don't mind the occasional taste of blood, I don't think I'd want to live without food, or live forever. Ugh.
no subject
[Iggy grins back, but a moment later holds those hands. He squeezes them before he offers Dick a wry look.]
Dick. Sweetheart. I know more about death than pretty much anyone you're ever gonna meet. Yeah, life is short.
I'm less concerned about you dying than you not dying - that idea is what kinda freaked me out. With the shit you get up to I'm never sure if stuff like that is a possibility.
no subject
[He pauses, and shakes his head.]
A part that won't ever be the same. It's there, and I feel it. The pit marked me, but I can and will always fight it. I know I was meant to come back and keep doing this, but when it's my time I'll be ready. I'm not like the al'guls. I'm not going to spend life trying to extend it.
no subject
Well. Relatively.
no subject
The Pit contains fragments of all the souls its ever resurrected, or healed. There's a much larger one that the Al'Gul's use to stay alive for centuries. I don't know much about that one, but I know it can cause a person to go mad with bloodlust and can steal their soul until someone goes to retrieve it because it's been used by so many people. The pit that I was put in was small. I know Jason went in that one as well. I feel the darkness, the push of it in the corners of my mind, but I can push back. I know that if I didn't have the job that I do, I think I might go ... mad, somewhat.
[That was something he'd never admitted to anyone. The pit craved violence, and if it didn't get it, it pushed harder. Dick's life was inherently violent. He never killed, but he took care of people who fought him back. He'd always be in this life. It saved him. ]
no subject
That's unnatural. Places like that... I hope you destroyed it, I really do.
[Iggy drums his fingers on the table, frowning lightly.]
These people who made the pit... they didn't do a very good job, sounds like. I mean, bloodlust as a side effect is pretty fucking dumb, don't you think? You'd think over a few hundred years they'd have thought up a fix for that.
You know--
[Iggy pauses, eyes flicking over Dick's shoulder.
Crap. Dead guy. Right there.
So he just goes on:]
--you sure do talk about dark stuff a lot. Do you like horror movies, Dick?
no subject
[Dick shrugs, and doesn't know how else to be. He fights madmen who want to kill entire cities with fear gas, Demons who want to eat the world and other horrible people. This is who Dick is. He can be a violent person at times, and while he's not as bad as he once was, and will never kill-- he's not gentle all the time.
Maybe that's why he's kind and overly attentive in this part of his life. It's a balancing of some sort. Taking a breath, Dick laughs. ]
No, not particularly. I've watched some, I like psychological thrillers. I see enough gore in my everyday life. I like some things, but it's not the first type of movie I reach for. I like comedies, and fantasies. I like things that work my imagination and keep my mind busy. Thrillers are fun, and I love things like 300, Gladiator, those type of movies. What about you?
